Food, Friends: Fun!
Edgar is a super-talented head chef partner at Roy’s restaurant in Newport Beach (with a passion for photography) and Salila works at a pharmaceutical company, with the extreme passion towards Christian Louboutin shoes (It was really funny reading their back-to-back status message / comments about Edgar receiving one after another packages of Salila’s newly acquired shoes on Facebook). Salila is very stylish, and owns and writes her own “OMG I [Totally] Heart” blog as her outlet.
To me, it is really interesting to understand what draws people together, and this one is in particular, one of the culinary kind – just like food and wine pairings. Salila is a total foodie, and no wonder they fit so well. We spent time together in numerous of Roy’s Wine Dinners and going out drinking and they also came over for one of my Poker nights. To make a 1.5 years story short, we became good friends.
Their wedding definitely didn’t disappoint. Held at the retro-chic Parker at Palm Springs, CA, they are joined by less than 100 of their closest family and friends. Salila + Edgar pretty much came up with the vibe themselves and they were gorgeous, simple-modern designs which is perfect for the Parker backdrop. I was in particular amazed at Salila’s craftsmanship, shown in her creation of Edgar’s and his groomsmen’s cute boutonnieres. The atmosphere of the wedding is almost one of a kind. I remembered several of the funniest, roast-toasts I have ever heard in my tenure as a wedding photographer by their best friends, which received massive crowd-applauds and reactions which undoubtedly sends a strong feeling of closeness and love towards Salila + Edgar. We finished off the night sitting around a campfire drinking beers and champagne and reminiscing the day. Good times.
Special thanks go out to Brandon Wong for second shooting for me.
